I've had a better look at this today, and it seems that it could be what we need. It's for the sun4i and exdroid - which the Excel references in its firmware .

However it looks like the firmware would need to be decompiled and then recompiled with this in it - (that is way over my head). Also it might not have fixed the sync issue as there are references to fw 2.01 and I have read elsewhere (slatedroid, I think) - that people with this FW version still had the issue.

We do seem to be getting closer, from looking at the file it is referencing codec's. I am still hoping that someone with an Excel with 4.01, will look to see if they have the files I mentioned and few posts back on this thread.

thanks for that charlie Hack_A10 page set my mind going!
been working on trying to activate bluetooth and it looks like we got to make our own .img with the blutooth built into kernel as the ainol rom someone had made would not flash and i can put into the kernel the sound file i found last night at the same time
i couldnt figure out how to get into linux folder to extrect the BImage (7zip could not get into nand)so i can try to compile a new .img
mkdir /sdcard/nanda changed this to
Code: Select all
mkdir mnt/extern_sd/nanda

then just folowed suit to get the Bimge from our excel rom to TF card
Now all i got to do is flash back to a clean .img do it all again and i will have the tools to build a .img with BT & sound fix
Build the image :

Copy bImage system.img root.img recovery.img to a windows machine.
Execute crane_pack.exe, select Build from: aino, configure paths to your bins, Click build.

could need some help with paths to your bins et al
dont know if a can do it but hey its worth a shot right

Nice one Mitre, (thought you would like the BT stuff, as I know you are working on that)

Not sure I understand all you just posted, but if you need help with this, give me a shout and I will do what I can.

@Mitre, Just a thought, would it not best to just do what you are planning to do, but with the sound fix only 1st. The reason I say this is, that it would make easier to do and we would know where any conflicts etc are coming from, rather than making 2 changes to a .img at the same time.

It would hopefully end up with the sound fix and BT sorted faster doing this way, than doing both at the same time.

I was in contact with Paul Evison at SO today and whilst 'talking' I thought I'd enquire about progress with the lip sync issue... here's what he had to say:
"For those people having problems with the lip-sync on i-player etc this is a noted problem with many android devices in this price range, one of the common solutions is using a video player such as mx-video player (free app) and launching i-player through this. you can then change playback resolution which will likely resolve the issue, secondly make sure you are set to flash and not html5 if playing through the browser. This is definately not going to be a hardware fault as I have seen it across a whole range of devices, just needs a bit of playing!"

I've not tried it yet.

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!

Lets face it SO are not in a position to be able to fix this all they could do is ask the factory to do the fix for them but the factory are probably working on 4.0.3 for the next run of tablets to come off the line whether its an allwinner with the same hardware or something else depends on how long the producton run is and what hardware they have for it
if SO 's order is still coming off the line we may get 4.0.x but if they are in a warehouse in Zhongguancun then its 2.3 all the way

Edit all we can do is hope for the former and get a rom off it personally i would prefer an official cyanogenMod for it but thats not going to happen funs trying for the Ainol7 but still got the same video poblems as his 2.3 CM7
back to lypsync i barely notice it on mine :D but then mine was an evaluation item so they probably tested it more before
sending them out to be reviewed maybe who knows

This does not work for streaming from a website, iplayer or any other site.

I never thought that myself that it's hardware - It is software, and I am not talking apps - It IS the the version of OS 2.3.4 and the way it has been compiled for the Excel. Other devices with the same hardware but with a differently compiled version of 2.3.4 do NOT suffer from this issue of lip-sync.
