I think it has happened once on my Excel. Maybe it depends how much static you are giving out at the time of pressing the screen.

Yep it is a great device (with a few bugs to iron out tho')

its best to keep both hands on the scroll to prevent generating static no matter what dodgy video clip you are watching

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!

Are they the velcro backed, studded leather ones, with the metal ring attached? ;-) lol

I've registered this morning, but it's less of a registration and more like signing up for spam. They don't ask for a specific product model or the unique identifying number/ IEMI number of the unit! (the scroll excel does in fact have an IEMI number like any mobile phone!)

It will be interesting to see what the IEMI Database has it listed as!

Methinks the chinese hackers have been at it again...either that or the GSM hardware used in the Scroll is the same as the Nokia 6600 and its been cloned... bloody good job there is actually no GSM hardware associated with the device.

Mine is:

Reporting body identifier: 35 (UK BABT)
Type Allocation Code: 35936500 (Nokia 6600)

Range assignment:

Est. Date of Range Issuance: Around Q1 2006
Reporting Body: British Approvals Board of Telecommunications (BABT)
Primary Market: Europe
Legal Basis for Allocation: EU R&TTE Directive

By contrast, my Viewpad 7 (with a legal IMEI) comes up with a uk based set of data similar to above but more unique.

Basically, because the Scroll has no phone hardware fitted, they program a pseudo IMEI into it to fool the android market into thinking its a proper device with phone capabilities. Clever eh?

Hope this helps
Dave

I did wonder why they would bother!

It's not like you can type *#06# and get to it, like you can with a phone!

Naughty little peeps that they are! ;-) lol

Just for fun, i asked a colleague to run a few tests on the imei i have, comes back " not known, never initialised" which means its never been assigned to a handset.
