One channel output with headphones

Hi all,

I've had my excel (ICS) for 11 months and not had a problem with it apart from one that has developed.
When I plug headphones in the sound output comes through both ears but seems to be as if only one channel of audio is getting through. For example watching films, i can hear all the background noises like car engines, tyres screaching but cant hear the talking. If i watch car racing i hear the cars plain as day but no commentary, music; drums guitars but no singing.
I pull the jack out and its all good through the units speakers.

I have tried different earphones but no different.

Anybody else had this ? Do you reckon its a full restore job? or is there anything else i can do/try before i return it before the warranty runs out.
