I know where you are coming from Marc, I also followed the ICS 4.0.3 and then 4.0.4 route for my Excel which started out with Gingerbread 2.3.4 and when we do eventually hear about a stable Jellybean for the allwinner A10 then I will certainly want to see what it has to offer for the Excel.
I understand that traditionally a lot of forums go quiet during the summer months as people go on their holidays but it certainly has been very quiet on the Excel front. I suppose either everyones away, lost interest or perhaps we have all got the wrinkles ironed out now with Suggy89's 4.0.4 which works very well on my Excel with the one exception that I cant host any usb devices - the slave part of the usb works fine though. I assume this got broke during the port process to Excel and I would like it fixed but I ceratinly wouldn't go back to Gingerbread because of it.
No doubt, Storage Options have taken a sharp intake of breath over the specs and the cost of the Nexus 7, but it is a sad fact that the Nexus has no option for external SD - although it does have the addition of an NFC chip.
Storage Options have been rather quiet lately, they used to surprise us with a rush of new models and even before they had hardly hit the market, they were issuing another new model.
I believe there have been more returns to Storage Options of the Extreme so far than any other tablet they have released and most people who have needed to send their Extreme back have been sent an Elite in replacement.
I don't know if you have noticed in the forum threads but the modding options for the Elite seem more limited than they were for the Extreme and quite a lot of people have experienced keymapping problems after updating to Cyanogen Mod or AOKP.
I have to say that for my personal needs which is mostly streaming TV via TVcatchup app or watching movies from the SD card and using the tunein radio, the Excel does everything I want it too and most of the time it does it well.
I have had some fun with an app called Jeanie
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... MuZnJlZSJdYou speak to it similar to apple's Siri - like "what is the meaning of life?" or "How long is a piece of string?"and it goes of to find an answer which is often hilarious. Maybe I am too easily entertained but I do also use the Google voice search which I find unerringly accurate. So maybe thats why it is all so quiet on the Excel front - those who have them have now got them sorted and perhaps they are not selling as well any more due to Google's competition.
