'Desktop' Icons

Postby Astro » January 15th, 2012, 10:00 pm

On the Excel there seems to be the potential to have 16 app icons per 'desktop' page, arranged in a 4x4 matrix, regardless of screen orientation.

There is pretty much a whole icon sized space between each column of icons. On my Android phone, the icons are packed in much more densely... does anyone know of a way of altering the spacing on the Excel so as to allow more icons to be displayed?

Don't think there is on the stock launcher, might have that option with one like, ADW Launcher or Launcher pro etc

Thanks Charlie,

I guess, with the potential to have 80 icons spread across the 5 'desktop' screens, wanting to have any more than that is probably greedy or disorganised (or both!).

May be, but if you had that many it would slow your tablet down

Good point!

Less icons is better.

I've been using quick launcher pro, It allows you to change the grid size (And also the status bar which I thinks great, the amount of useless icons there annoys me haha). The best configuration I've found is a 7x4 grid allowing up to 24 apps on a page without any noticable difference in speed. I threw on just a load of random apps to show you in the pictures:

I've seen an option within settings, for altering the grid size. I didn't know what it was, so I left it alone for now! Lol
