In recent weeks, unauthorized firmware packages have been appearing on various websites. They claim these packages work better than the originals, removing various "bugs". Believe me, they dont! What they actually do is kill the handset completely and make it hard for people like me to reflash them (the bootloader code is killed). I can easily reflash the bootloader but should not have to.

Models affected include C3, C6,N8,5800,5530 so far

If you are tempted to load one of these firmwares you may also see your bill hit the roof as the firmware contains a clever little auto-dialler. One of my customers saw his bill go from £25 a month to £400 - and it only stopped there because the network imposed a credit limit.

My advice? Only ever use Nokia Software Updater or Ovi Suite to update your mobile.These softwares have direct access to the Nokia nds servers that choose the correct firmware for your handset. If you really want to remove the operator branding contact me via PM and ill help if I can.

On a side note, unlocking your handset so you can use any network will not improve performance! I dont give out codes, please dont ask!
