GOODBYEEEEEEEEEEE

Postby Scope » August 24th, 2011, 7:02 pm

Hi Folks

Just popped in quick to say that after frustrating myself needlessly for 18 months now, fighting the Scroll and its quirks and limitations, I finally had enough ! bit the bullet ( and my wallet) and spent £179 on the 8" 2.2. android Viewsonic Tablet from Maplin. Result HAPPINESS, Smooth , true multi-touch screen , FAST processor and internals, solid, well made and simply delightful...oh and a phone unlocked sim ready tablet to boot !
This my friends is the future, goodbye old scroll, now consigned to be a Kindle in my bottom drawer. No modding, hacking , sawing in half to get it to work properly, just plain working like silk out of the box. There does not appear to be Viewsonic Forum...why ? well it doesnt appear to have any faults. Can now swap my samsung phone sim in and out of both to my hearts content.
Havent felt so much contentment since my Mother in law fell in a fish pond !

Will dip in and out from time to time with a "Scopism"

Hi Scope,

That does sound like a great tablet, do you have a link to the one you got from Maplin? - Also is the CPU in it able to support full flash? If it does then I might get myself one of those too :)

Cheers

Hi Charlie

Link from Maplin is

http://www.maplin.co.uk/viewpad-7-touch-tablet-511340

Youtube review and unboxing is

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... +viewpad+7

I dont know about flash, but it is smooth video etc. I use mine mainly for surfing and as a large sat nav device, it comes with a Full market and is rooted and is quick and responsive like my Galaxy Apollo. Maybe Fonefixer can give you the run down on the spec. I prefer to go to a local shop to return it if it goes pear shaped, and never have a problem at Maplin.
It is 7 inch not 8 inches....there was me exaggerating again!!!!!
Cheers guys

This is the "homepage" for it: http://www.viewsonic.com/products/vpad7.htm

Im tempted, if only I could rely on Useless Parcel Service to deliver it!

Scope: Thank Christ you still work in feet & inches.... 7mm doesnt sound so impressive somehow!

Hey Scrollables ( Aiming at FF with this one )

Hello Fonefixer or is it FEZfixer now (lol), Think I read somewhere that there was a flash update for our shiny Viewpad 7s. Did you manage to get a reply to yr question from Viewsonic ?
Maybe I was dreaming it all, in which case I am sleep typing !!

Good evening Sir! (Or "Meesa el khair" as they say here)

Flash update? The only downloads available for our tablets are here. However, within all that crap, the only one that applies to the ViewPad 7 is here. Your unit should already have the latest firmware loaded.

Care to share a link where you found this "flash update"? por favor Guvnor?
