As you will have noticed, in the last few days I have been making some changes to the forum, in particular the new custom profile fields that can appear in your mini-profile on every post.

The site owner, Stu, has asked me if its possible to use these new fields instead of signatures so the forum looks a bit tidier. I have agreed that it is possible but wanted to get members opinions on the matter. Lets face it, a forum is nothing without its members and all your opinions count (yes, even yours Scope! )

What I have done is attached a poll to this post which will run for 14 days to get members opinions.

What are my thought on this?

Basically, I like the newer idea. The main reason being some signatures can get rather large and it looks somewhat silly when you have a huge signature and only one line of text in the post. It takes up a lot of forum space when it doesnt need to IMHO. If you want the new fields name changed or added to just suggest it, it can be done!

In my opinion,my opinion is my opinion,however not everyone has an opinion,which in my opinion they should have,but perhaps they are opinionated, and remember that an opinion is just an onion with a P and an I, or is it that in their opinion they dont have an opinion ,which in my opinion is a total waste of an opinion.
Any getting back to the opinion, yes the new style is better, however beware of Polls, they come over here and steal the jobs in hotels..........
Yes is the answer in my opinion, but dont give us any more fields, they are only full of sheep and other mucky things.

Some people just like a lot of fields, especially if they live rurally, I personally prefer a lawn. less distance to walk the dog.
By the way I bought a B grade Tom Tom from Maplin. The voice synthesiser had a bad stutter...never arrived anywhere

I would say keep the sig and have the new fields too - Otherwise you are penalising the forum community members that have helped and contributed to make this forum what it is

Point taken. I wasn't thinking of restricting anything. Just playing around with different ideas
