Hello all,

Ive decided to create a little(?) poll on here to get an overall opinion on something. Its personal and has little to do with the forum (i'll still be here to p*&$$ you all off if it does happen!) but I value the opinions of the friends I have on here.

Ok heres the deal.......

As most of you know, i've worked for Regenersis for most of my working life - worked my way up the ladder to one of the senior people in the Company. I earn good money, have a relatively easy job, and I like what I do. Im happy with life in general, but not a little dissolusioned with England itself. IMHO this country is going down the pan pretty damn pronto!

I have been recently contacted by a major mobile manufacturer who has offered me a job in Egypt as a Director of their repairs division there.

I guess i'm in a good position to go as I speak pretty fluent Arabic (been there lots of times on holiday), my kids are all old enough to lead their own lives and are settled here (or abroad) with families. Housing is not an issue either. The money they are offering is 38% better than I get now (the Uk tax man will love me to death!).

Seriously people, I am 98% sure of going, and would value your opinions. You dont have to write anything but if you answer my poll I would appreciate it. The poll runs for seven days, as I must answer them the early part of next week.

Egypt erm , bit unstable perhaps? Not sure I would go anywhere near the Arabic speaking world at this moment. Don't blame you for considering the possibility though as I have had several opportunities to live abroad when I was working, NZ was a great temptation as I was offered a job there but my loved one would not leave her family at the time to go so far away.

I am retired now, and would love to live in Spain/Mallorca. Have a reasonable command of their language but.......

If your kids are OK, tell 'em you are off and do what you want to do, assuming your better half agrees You only have one go at it all, as they say!!

PS Hope you stay on this forum though

i said stay. my wife is Turkish and i could quite easily move to there for many reasons i am in the building industry so have been suffering a bit longer than everybody else. I can understand your frustrations about england at the moment but consider this when you go on holiday (espescially extended holidays do you miss home and are glad to get back
that said after 18 months to 2 years werever you are becomes home if you adopt it. think the culture is too different to
be an easy settle My brother is in Aus 3yrs loves it wont come back Think i'm an Anglophile

Go, if it doesn't work out you can always come back! Just keep your options open.

Throughout my life which has involved many difficult choices, I have always done the same thing. I make a list with two columns, Pros and Cons. When one column is longer , that is your decision, because when you make the list , both your head and your heart work together to be either for or against the choice. Its simple and it is always right, because when the longer column overtakes the other , your mind has already been made up.

Just to let you guys know my decision has been made - I'm off! It won't affect my presence here apart from a few days while I set things up.
My bosses are not entirely happy as they made me a bloody good offer-however after careful consideration I rejected it as it didn't match the new job.
I have resigned on a months notice but as they owe me three weeks leave I only have to work next week. I should be relocated in Hurghada by the end of July.

I admire your decision! Good luck with your venture and at least you can watch the ships travelling up and down the Suez Canal. Looks promising for some bathing with the sharks too Don't forget the Somali pirates just around the corner or you could nip across in your boat to see the Brits in Sharm

The only water I can see from my place over there is the red sea!
The only pirates I think ill see are the shop owners haha.
According to an Egyptian friend the shark reports were false, it was a couple of German or Russian grannies!
Can't wait to go now, but got a lot to do beforehand.
