Ill email Huawei tech during the week when I have a min and see if they will oblige me with a vanilla firmware

If they have eaten enough noodles they might help.

I know where the spashes on Nokia's are - in the .cnt files - If a customer really pisses me off I change their splash screen and network logo to read "arsehole"

if anyone wants the stock music app/youtube I will upload them somewhere.
I really wanted to replace the calendar as I don't think its the stock one. The contacts app I want to replace as well... don't know if a stock android one exists/would work though

Thanks, wot a lot Now, how do I get rid of that lot, do I have to root it? I can see the apps in File Expert but not delete 'em! Forgive my ignorance

you will need to root it first (z4root works great) then use something like root explorer to remove crap. there may be more to remove but that is where I stopped for now.

Get ADB as a home screen replacement as the standard one with 15(wtf?) home screens is stupid.
