No, the 2.2 flash via kies will overwrite everything.

Thanks FF.

Got this iPhone 4 case for the GT-i5800 - and it's a perfect fit :D Link below for the cheapest price I could find, same case can be as much as £14.99 at other retailers.

P.S. - Got up to 42hrs on phone now, with 15% left - Some more tweaking me thinks - but up to 2 days is good :) and I was caning the wifi last night.

P.P.S - Just had issues with usb connecting to PC and Kies - When it was ok yesterday - Found this tip to sort it out quickly - http://blog.vacs.fr/index.php?post/2010/12/24/How-to-repair-the-USB-not-detected-problem-on-Android-Samsung-phones

There is a tech bulletin out ( 3 months old) about the USB connection issue.

The issue actually is with the KIES software, or rather its drivers and would seem to be a bit intermittant.

To give you an example, the handset drivers I use at work are updated almost on a weekly basis. If thinks go wrong in the service centres I look after there are going to be serious issues as they handle 5-6000 handsets a week (samsung alone) so the drivers you have may well not be the latest ones (but they are the latest public release - which will be a lower version than that used by me).
Rest assured, a fix is in the pipeline. However, if you really want it I might be able to... um.....put them on a site somewhere for you to look at. :D

Yes that is a good flip case - I saw that at the market in town 2day at £8.00 - it is good, but I decided to go for a slip case as my last phone was in one of those cases you are getting, I just fancied a change, saying that I might get that one off ebay as its a much better price :D - You will love the phone - way better than the scroll, just a smaller screen.

Arrrrrrrrrrrr - Kies is driving me mad !!! - tiring again for over 1hr to get the phone connected 2day, but no it won't and even the usb fix I used before, does not work this time - Are there new drivers for Vista 32bit Business, please, that could be kindly made available??, (if you have time) :)

The phone is connected via usb and in the menu on the phone 'Samsung Kies' is selected for usb, but the top left of the kies software it just stays on "connecting" for ever.

Tapatalk pro works well.

Use Z4root 1.3.0v last night to perm root the phone and it worked fine, in fact it took less than 2 minutes :D

Got it today....one word

SLICK !!!!

PS anyone know of a working Inssider program that will operate with this phone, as I would need it. Pass a link if there is please. Also geezer at CPW told me that the update for 2.2. is available on the Samsung Website now. His nose stayed the same length despite my 1000 yard stare , but I have not been able to source it yet.

He lied. i will know a week before its released on the public system. it won't be long though.
have a look on the market for wifinder. works like inssider

Charlie: Your non-connection issue isnt caused by the driver or the handset wouldnt say "connected" on its screen.

Here's what I suggest you try:

In tools/preferences on KIES make sure the autoruns are disabled - one on the first tab and one on the last.
With KIES closed, connect your handset KIES should not start but the handset should say "connected" after a few seconds. Once it does, start KIES and it should connect - it does a firmware upgrade check during start up, which is why it takes a few seconds.
If it doesnt work disable any firewalls and try again.
You could also try without a sim/memory card in the handset, KIES doesnt need them to control the handset.
KIES also has a dislike of USB connected storage devices connected to its pc other than the phone - if you have any, unplug them.

Let me know how you get on with the above. :D
