My market is now working, and Mike from SO sent me a new calibration app but I haven't loaded it yet.

Regarding the Market, he said go into settings/applications/market and click on "uninstall updates" I did this and it did nothing much so I reset the scroll from the recovery menu, went through the set up wizard and hey presto, I now have the full market including paid apps.

There seems to be a lot more settings options on 1.01 compared to 0.94 but im still working through them....

The reset also cured my calibration issues and the fact that andexplorer couldnt see the SD card properly. I'm going to leave well alone for now. SWMBO has her games back and is quite happy. She isn't so happy, however, that I have modded the firmware on her phone while she wasn't looking and put "Grumpy Bint" in big red letters on the start splash screen on her Nokia!

As you can see, I like to live dangerously!

It would be interesting to see with this model if SO have already taken the phone.apk's out (or edited them) - have you checked in settings>about device>battery usage to see if the 'cell standby' reading is there?

Hi Warpedflash....

Um... no, you're not the only one!

I just turned my scroll back on and the market has disappeared again. I called Mike Riley at SO and he said there is nothing more he can do until the new firmware is released that is compatible with the newer version of the market app. I asked when it will be available, and he said "hopefully by the end of next week".

If you need to use the market, you''ll have to do what I did and uninstall the market updates. I asked if there was a way to stop the update happening - he said they have looked into it and the short answer is no. Oh well, c'est la vie as they say!

@Charlie: When I go into that screen I cant see anything at all apart from something about "when device last unplugged" with no readings.......its still on its first charge at the moment.

is there an app called Market Updater, you could try installing it using the root method, after you have reset the market back to working 1st (poss would stop other apps, updating too) - this is just an idea - don't know if it would work.

I hope in their update that they don't "break" the stuff we've "fixed":

Removal of telephony crap
Screen Res fixes
Removal of space-wasters (3D Gallery, etc)
Rooting

Or it'll be a journey into re-patching all over again :(

is there an app called Market Updater, you could try un-installing it using the root method, after you have reset the market back to working 1st - like they told you at SO - but before you reboot - not sure if this would mess anything up tho.
