Any collectors out there

Postby frimo » February 11th, 2011, 10:00 am

Was just wondering if anyone collects anything ? I used to collect pottery/ceramics and over the years have made a good return on it. Still got boxes of the stuff from Royal Doulton, Portmerion, Royal Crown Derby and Studio ware.

Over the last couple of years have been dipping my toe into the world of Cigarette lighters the top end like, Dunhill, Cartier, YSL, Christian Dior, Ronson to name a few. The pride of my lighter collection is a Rothschilds from the 80's it's gold plated top quality mint condition in the box and only been lit to test. It cost me £100 of ebay think it would go for a lot more now maybe double.

Have never had good faith in banks, so if I'm after something else then I'll just sell something on ebay or private.

This country's in recession and a very bad one at that, I'm employed at Jobcentre plus there 9500+ people losing there jobs in the North west alone each month. On Monday I got an email saying 200 post were going where I work, well it's called an early exit package. Have put my name down as hit the big 50 two days ago and my health's not good at the moment, so it's ideal for me. Must say my heart goes out to you young ones, it's like the 70's all over again.

Getting to the point what if anyone thinks the next collectable will be ? About 4yrs ago Gold was under £4 a gram it's now around £10+ a gram.

Hope you've enjoyed reading my post, just something a little different. Would love to know if there any like minded members out there, and hear about your collections.

Also how do you make a few quid on the side, I'll put a few ideas on here shortly that will earn you a few notes depending on the response I get and all legit. See we have a buy sell and trade on here, everyone must have something to sell be it just a DVD or game so come on guys get buying and selling and earn a few quid.

Regards,

Mark.

I collect wires and hard drives and other broken computer bits

I did try collecting the recent UK coins that jigsaw together to make the crest but ran out of money and spent it

I make a few quid on the side by repairing machines for people my gf knows and people round the doors, but I couldn't live off it

I wanted to collect 18yr old girls from outside our local college, plenty of room in the cellar too.
Mrs put the kibosh on that one!
