Other inexpensive tablets

Postby starwatcher » February 12th, 2012, 9:47 am

Hi - not sure if I'm in the right slot but . . . I got a Excel for my 60th and I'm very happy with it (and with the support available on this forum) I thought I might buy another for my wife to use when we travel Europe later this year (motorhome, not backpack!) but decided to have a look round at others first. I came across the Arnova 7c G2 from carphone warehouse specs at http://androidadvices.com/devices/351-7c-g2.html

I know the processor is slower but it seems to have a lot of goodies for £80 including 3G, Bluetooth and GPS. I played around with one on demo and the screen seems just as fast and responsive as the one on the scroll - any comments?

Find the video to the Channel 5 'Gadget Show' review of the Scroll Excel. they also have a look at the Arnova and it gets a very bad review.

Resistive touch, slow processor and an overall inferior option to the Excel.

I thought that was an Archos? Certainly the one (Arnova 7c G2) I played with in carphone warehouse had a capacitive screen (as per the specs) and was very responsive and quick.

on the link it says capacitive screen? however the armv6 processor may let you down as it will be a lot slower you could end up fighting over who gets to use the excell but then bluetooth and GPS could be a good addition (horses for courses)
dont think you can get flash video on the armv6

Good point about the processor - do I need (or even want) bluetooth/GPS ? Do I want a tab that is 'fast' and responsive - oh yes! You can where this is going . . . :-)
