Yea I have clockworkmod installed and working

What are the name of the 3 files, I`ll just rename them manually

EDIT - Its ok I found them from your update script

I also noticed that in the build.prop file, you added this line

# Where comments here buy all in chinese so it looked like this
# Ä£¿éµÄril¶¯Ì¬¼ÓÔØ¿âÎļþÃû³Æ£¬×¢ÒâÒòÊôÐÔÖµ³¤¶ÈµÄÏÞÖÆ£¬¹Ê½ö²ÉÓò¿·ÖÃû³Æ£¬

In my build.prop file, there was never any of those messed up characters, but I did notice your first update of the modded build.prop was full of them

Not sure why this would have happened with identical files

---EDIT---
The 3 .apk phone files you are deleting, does this disable the phone part of the OS?

I thought .apk files were only used for installing, not actually running ?

EDIT - Crap, Ive got that com.android.phone stopped responding error loop

How do I get out of that without restoring ?

Pete_S wrote:Thanks Warpedflash, thanks charlie, I've rooted my v0.94 scroll and removed the phone etc apks and everything's running better than before. It also feels like my tablet now :)

I also took the opportunity to remove the 3D Gallery app which has bugged me since the start by creating all those temp files on the storage card - I honestly never thought I'd see the end of those.

I'm going to be removing other stuff I don't need and will report if I get problems.

Thanks - :D

Ah - So the 3d gallery is creating the temp files! - I take it you just renamed/deleted the 3dgallery apk and then deleted the temp files? (no side effects?)

lol dont fiddle with test files if you dont know whats up lol :P

Yea whoever I don't have the Chinese/Japanese language sets on this computer and cd to install them so the characters are scrambled.

Delete the 3 apk files in teh correct order then reboot and you should be out of the boot loop

Yes, just renamed it. I've been deleting the temp files for ages using GScript and never had a side effect. It's strange now I don't have to, like something's missing ;)

I don't claim credit for discovering it, found the answer on xda-dev after loads of googling

Im brand new to Android, a complete virgin as of 3 or 4 days ago, so learning will inevitably result in foobaring stuff lol

lol, I fixed it by adb pull, then renamed it back, and then adb push

What is the correct order ?

rename phone.apk mms.apk and telephoneyprovider.apk - to .old (if not renamed in this order you get a fc loop that re-booting does not solve ) remember the order is P M T

NOTE - you will have to reboot when the 1st phone.apk is renamed.

Thanks, but Im trying this all manually bit by bit, just need to know which order to rename them

I would try your update.zips but I wont learn by applying updates, I like to know exactly what is happening so if anything goes wrong I know what to fix

Also I have the scroll all setup and running nicely, and dont fancy having to backup and restore as the last restore I did gave me endless errors on boot and I had to reset the factory defaults again
