Hmmm..

Just under the option to turn wifi on (where the tick box is bit on the left hand side) do you get the messages i mentioned before? in small letters should be "obtaining ip address" etc? My gut feeling is that you may have renamed an incorrect file somewhere. Did you do a backup before you installed cwm?
I think you might have to rename the files back to original and start again so at least you have wifi access. Not many of us are about this early, you might have to wait a while for a response later today im afraid.

Here is something. On reboot the option "only use 2g network" is not selected.

No, the only message that is shown is "turning on" there is nothing about obtaining a ip address.

it should still function on wifi, i was just trying all angles, so to speak. Rename the files back to original, reboot and see if you get wifi back

Okay, will do. the file extensions need to be changed back from .old to .apk. Is that right?

I rebooted but still no wifi.

Everything else is working great, I don't understand what could have gone wrong, I did everything to the letter.

I didn't do a backup because nobody seemed to be having any problems except for not renaming the files in order.

Success!!

In desperation I rebooted the router and changed the channel number to 8 and my scroll seen it and connected. :D

Thanks Dave, for all of your help, especially at this time in the morning.

I hope this helps anyone who has the same problem to keep what hair they have that they have left. :)

Glad you got it sorted...

If you do get wifi interference I use a free prog called inSSIDer which, when used on a laptop will tell you who is on what chan in your area so you can pick a free one.
One more thing worth mentioning... does your router have the latest firmware loaded? if not it might be worth loading it. You will, however, need an ethernet connection to do it, dont try it via wifi or youll brick it.
If you need help with the router, please post in the section below:

I like the idea of that inSSIDer, can I use this from my desktop or my scroll, and is it free?

Yes, my router is set to check for new firmware every day automatically, so I am good there.
BTW: I think my scroll is brilliant and well worth the money. ;)
