Scroll Tablet PC | Scroll Excel Tablet Forum

Having searched the forum high & low, read through numerous 'fixes for Market' , also searched the web for sources of 'Audible' downloads, I always wind up getting the same message: Your app will download, but apart from the download icon appearing momentarily at the top of the screen, nothing happens.
Android market says that this app is not currently available, but I have downloaded a number of free apps successfully. I really don't have the time to work through lengthy fixes, with no guarantee of success: Does anyone know if I can SIMPLY download a version of Audible for Android, or do I just wait until Market place becomes available again (If ever !) ?

There you go Brian that's the latest beta...You could join the Audible Google group at: http://groups.google.com/group/audible-for-android-beta which is where the direct dll link comes from.

Thank you JimmyW, I'll let you know how I get on. Presumably the zip file is self-extracting, so if I put it on the SD card it should install from there ?

The .apk from the top link above can be accessed with a file explorer or apk /app installer and run directly - it is a self installing file

I know that I am exposing my ignorance, but I'm new to Android: I've taken a look at the contents of the zip file, and also after extracting it (On my laptop) and can't see any apk file: Is this something that will show only when downloaded directly to the Android device ?

.apk is just androids version of zip - you dont extract it, that is the installer, just run it like you would an exe, but on the scroll

Thanks Detection, I told you that I was exposing my ignorance ! Anyway, that has explained all I need to know, so sometime soon I should be able to start enjoying my Audible material which I've had on other devices previously.

Naa not ignorance, most people here, me included only got their first taste of Android a few weeks ago too.

Finally got it loaded over the weekend, via difficulty in accessing the scroll tablet forum website (Login problem) using my tablet. Couldn't make it work by transferring the zip file from laptop to tablet, but got to the point where the option appeared to download apk file, and away we went ! Just going through the downloads of my library (Quite a few hours there !)

A good way to access this site via the Scroll is though a Paid app called "Tapatalk" which Im sure you could find using this great little search engine
