any skype like apps

Are there any good skype like apps for the scroll? would be good to use the webcam to chat to friends and family if possible?

There are a few Skype apps, but no-one that is on this forum site seems to have got them functioning correctly and they tend to crash on the Scroll for some reason.

I have a copy of skype that seems to work, haven't actually had a convo on it yet and no phone support on the scroll and no cam support full stop. I can try it for messaging and if it's stable send you a link to the APK if you like?

Chatroulette has an app for android apparently - haven't tried it mind you!

Yahoo Messenger apparently has cam support - http://uk.mobile.yahoo.com/messenger/android - haven't tried it yet myself so feel free to give it a go and report back to the forum

the regular Skype app worked - audio only - on my tablet.

had trouble trying to create an account from the tablet so did it on the PC, then logged in on the tablet and made a call.

I deleted the phone .apks earlier, don't know if that made any difference.

I downloaded Skype from the market but it crashes after I log in. I have managed to make a successful test call with Fring although it didn't like the camera.

I downloaded the latest Skype which runs OK. can log into my account OK, Can dial contacts OK, Can hear other end speaking but they can not hear me! So much for using a speaker as a microphone!

There is a mic on the scroll but I wonder why skype cant see it? - I verified the existence of a mic by installing the talking tom cat app - works ok but it doesnt seem to be designed for resistive touch-screens. However the voice repeat function works

That confused me too. I also have the talking cat app that works OK.
I did also try the Skype echo test and that failed to hear the microphone as well. Maybe when I have some more time I will look into it further. Annoying because I am frequently out of the UK and could really use Skype.

I have no idea how I did it, but I have skype working on my scroll. Chat and VOICE CALLS both working fine. I just chatted with my daughter for a couple of minutes. My son was doing text chat at the same time. Again, I have no idea how I did this. Last time I tried to get skype working it just crashed.
