The Superuser Program will remain :) Its installed to your device regardless of if there is root access or not.
To test if you have root download "Android Terminal Emulator" From the market and type "su" then press enter. If you have root access a Superuser popup box will appear letting you allow the app to use root permissions.

You can also Update the SuperUser Program from the market while you are at it :D

You will need to re-run the temporary root if you have restarted your phone. Permanently root means it stays after you restart.

Oh and removing the superuser app is a bit of a pain. you have to use something like root explorer and remove it manually (I think, never bothered to remove it)

Nice work so far everyone,

where did you get the apk from? as i would rather use the same one as you guys are using, so at least if there are issues we all have the apk and that eliminates one varable.

Search for z4root in Google and click the xda forum one, its on the first post!

I have also installed root explorer to gain access to the phone and telephony apks so that I can get rid of the battery draining cell standby service. So far so good, will see if it makes a difference to the battery life!

Thanks

I'm interested to see if this will hep :D It sounds like it should do. just remove the 4 apks in the correct order :D then reboot it a couple of times and it should be stable. remember to back up the apks in case it goes shitty.

EDIT:
Does someone want to edit the first post to give all the relevant links? Or make a new thread to be stickied then use this one for discussion?

All I did was rename the apks to phone.old so that if it all went wrong I could just rename them again back to .apk

All seems ok so far
