On some of the forums (fora?) I use if you hover the mouse over the thread title then the first chunk of the first post is displayed.

Useful to do before deciding to open the thread.

I think that is a vBulletin function. Unsure if phpBB supports it.

At least one of the forums I use that has it runs phpBB

The kia owners one... not sure if thats phpbb?
The bike one is phpbb... but, doesn't preview posts for me when I hover over the forum for some reason??
