Hi gents have a scroll tablet and like it for what it is.But am confused as to the authenicity of the statement from SO that states 4hrs-depending on use.The manual says next to nothing concerning the power usage of this device,as well as a total lack of written help to aid users how they may get the MOST use out of this tablet device.I would therefore like all users to send to me info concerning the following:

1.the longest time of usage you have got while using the scroll.anyone got near to the 4hrs as stated in the manual.
2.if you got alot of use out of your scroll,what were the display settings concerning backlight setting,wifi,power shutdown setting.

from this data we can make up a newbies document that will help a newbie to get the most out of his scroll and enjoy the experience,and not feel fustrated.

my scroll shows a firmware version of v1.02s,but with backlight at 50% and power switchdown at 10 min and wifi on i get 50% after 1 hour.but after 1hr 50m its shuts down.Not the 4hrs stated.Power consumption/battery life are important parameters and just to put 1 short sentence about charge time of 16hours and nothing else is not a good excercise in customer support.I think the big heads at SO are missing a trick here or are playing one on all the users.

Disable the phone APK's as they are constantly trying to reach a network which the Scroll can't actually use as there is no phone hardware in the device. The APK's are Phone.apk, Mms.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk and are in \system\app\.

To disable them change .apk to .old ie phone.apk becomes phone.old, etc. They MUST be disabled in the following order: phone.apk (then shut down the Scroll and start it again (MUST DO THIS!), then mms.apk and then telephonyprovider.apk, then reboot again.

Remember, strict order: PMT! and you MUST restart after the first one!

I've had a go at the changes you have suggested to the phone.apk file etc and found that although I can re-name the file the changes won't save.!!... ??

I'm new to the Scroll and am still finding my feet but I find the battery only lasts for approx 2 hrs so was keen to try your suggestion.

I'm guessing my error is a basic one but hoping for some additional guidance...

My apologies, but I forgot something because, to me, it's just something everyone does when they get their Scroll: you need to 'root' it ie give yourself super user permissions, akin to 'admin' on a Windows system.

It sounds like you have rooted the scroll already, what is the name of the file explorer App, that you have been using to rename the phone.apks ?? As not all of them give you enough permissions to do this, even if you have root access.

Root Explorer is the only one I have found to have Full Root Privileges

I use ES File Explorer for it
