Hi guys would any one mind making me a copy of a standard recovery image as the clockworkmod has broken my 1.02's recovery mode :(

1. run adb shell
2. cat /proc/mtd
this will bring up a partition list up mtd6 should be recovery

3. cat /dev/mtd/mtd6 > /sdcard/mtd6.img
that should create a stock recovery image called mtd6.img :)

This will only make a backup of the standard recovery if you dont have clockworkmod installed

Instructions found on

I can give more detailed instructions if any of you guys get stuck, would really help me out untill someone figures out why clockworkmod is a no go on 1.02

thanks in advance :)

@evilbobbins

I would - but I have CWM - sorry.

Is your scroll a 7" or 8" one? Also was the FW 1.02 as standard or did you do the upgrade to 1.02? - There does seem to be issues with the 8" and CWM (also issues with the 1.02 update.zip from SO, for a lot of people)

Its a 7" Scroll it came with 1.02s from new so had no choice in it :( all I get when I try recovery is the scroll screen, fastboot can send commands though nothing is showing on the screen.

it boots normally at the min but if it ever started not to then I would be stuck :(

I have cwm too, so cant help. Sorry mate.

I must admit a standard recovery image would be useful though, any takers? - I presume the adb commands/android sdk will work fine on a standard untouched scroll, or will it need to be rooted?

UPDATE: It does say in the instructions page you posted that the correct permissions need to be set and the device rooted.

most adb commands work as far as I know on a standard scroll, I would try un-rooting mine but dont really want to try without the recovery working :(

Damn it! my scroll has died :( it wont boot at all now, I was using it fine and then it went crazy, it popped up like I have plugged in the usb from my pc (the debug and usb connect icons) then froze and rebooted then got stuck on the scroll screen looks like either the boot partition or system image has screwed up :(

can fastboot to it but that that it.

guess its off to Maplins tomorrow to get it sorted. Joy :(

All sorted swapped without any fuss :)
I'll do a manual back up of the MD6 (recovery) partition as soon as I get home and fire it up and put it on the web some where :)
