Hi I have had a Storage options Scroll V2 now for some time but not used it much. Being quite a gamer I have seen a game I want to play on Google play but cant seem to play it on comp as its for Android or ipods. I have tried to down load to my Scroll but it just aint having it? Google play apps are 2.2 my scroll is 2.1(what ever that means lol) so Im guessing I need to upgrade my scroll?????? Is there anybody out there that can advise me what to do (apart from through my scroll at the wall) If so please lay out advise in complete idiot form for me so I can follow step by step easily.

Thank you in advance

A very frustrated newbie

Hello pongosgirl,

Welcome to the forum.
You are quite right about the notice not to post requests for help in the new member introduction area.
Unfortunately, like most forum we don't like people making multiple posts for the same thing, especially in the wrong areas.
I have deleted your duplicated help request from the Hardware section as this forum section is reserved for posts about hardware not help requests.

In order to help your post get the correct exposure I have moved this entire thread to the help section so other members can see it more readily and hopefully come to your aid.

Can you provide a bit more information about your tablet.
You say you have had it some time and it is a Scroll V2 ?
Do you mean it is a Scroll "Basic Plus" version 2 or is it something else.
Can you tell us exactly what version of android it is running and have you set up a Google account?

All these things are relevant and the better your information is the more likely your are to find a solution. ;)

By the way, thanks for the kisses, this is a first on here for me and I can tell you that you made an old man very happy.

Thanks, you certainly did well for information as we now know exactly what model you have and can try to see what can be done.

The Scroll model 51624 is an early resistive screen, Telechips (CPU) based model originally running android Eclair (2.1) and with only 2Gb of ram and just 256 Mb of system memory. By current standards this is unfortunately a poor specification and not well suited to upgrade to current operating systems such as Jelly Bean. I am uncertain if this model will run even Ice Cream Sandwich but perhaps someone with more knowledge than me can confirm this.

Even if it will upgrade I doubt you will be able to upgrade much more than Gingerbread 2.3 and updating Telechips based tablets is quite a technical task that cannot be explained in an easy step process like you hoped in your original request.

Here is a link to a similar request with some explanation as to difficulties in upgrading this model and suggested options for a new tablet. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3162&p=25041&hilit=upgrading+telechips#p25041

Regarding, "Google Play store", your tablet when first released did actually have "android market" installed on it. Android Market is the early version on the current Google Play store. If you have used this in the past then you must have already set up a Google account (Gmail).

If you definitely don't have a Google account then this is how you do it: http://support.google.com/a/users/bin/a ... er=1738362

Let us know how you get on.
