CM9 appears stuck on loading screen - cant CWM

Postby barry17 » July 27th, 2012, 8:40 pm

Hello.

I think I may have broke my scroll extreme so im hoping someone here can help.

I installed CWM and made a backup of my stock firmware. I then installed 910i_compatibility_1.2.0, cm9_nightly_20120721 and gapps-ics-20120429-signed.

After installing the tablet would load to the lock screen but my touch screen wouldnt work. I thought I would restore my backup but I've only managed to get back into CWM once and that was pure luck as no matter what key combinations I try I cannot seem to get in.
The one time I accidentally got into CWM it would not mount my sd card.

Now, my tablet appears to be stuck on the loading screen with the figure in the centre and the light arrow going in circle.

Please can someone help me, maybe they know how I can get into CWM.

Thanks.

Barry.

Hello Trashcooky.

I have read that thread previously but it does not help with my situation.

I cannot get the tablet past the CM9 loading screen so I cant attached with USB to my PC. The computer will see that there is an android attached but I cant access the memory.

CWM is already installed on my tablet as I managed to get into it once by mistake since installing CM9 but it was pure luck. Ive tried all sorts of key variations when powering up but cant seem to get back into it.

I don't understand all the talk about terminal codes etc but I'm guessing I need to be able to get into the 'desktop' of my tablet.

I've seen alot of discussion about be stuck in boot cycle and pushing boot.img but I don't understand this. Is it possible for me to 'push' new files onto my tablet without it being on the 'desktop'.

Thanks.

Barry.

I've managed to sort out my problem so I thought I would share here in case anyone else gets stuck.

Problem... could not access cwm using any variation of holding volume keys and power button. Tablet would not load to OS, it just stayed looping on the loading screen.

Via USB my laptop would still detect that an 'android' was connected but I could not access any memory/SD on the tablet.

So, while the tablet was on the loading screen I connected to my laptop via USB and ran the batch file for installing cwm. Chose option 1 which is reported as failing, ran option 2 for reboot which also failed.
This must have acknowledged something inside my tablet as after powering it down then back on without holding any extra keys it booted straight into cwm.

From here I was able to restore my stock backup successfully then I started from scratch to install cm9 which is now running great for me.

Hopefully that makes some sort of sense and may help someone.

Cheers

Barry

Hi Guys your help is desparately needed.

My CM9 scroll is stuck on loading screen and I cant boot into CWM (think loader is corrupt)

I have tried the approach below but this did not work for me.

PC sees the 2 tablet drives but I cant access them, please insert disc message.

Does anyone know a way of resolving this?

Regards

Via USB my laptop would still detect that an 'android' was connected but I could not access any memory/SD on the tablet.

How is your laptop acknowledging that your tablet is connected ?
If it is simply the audible acknowledgement when you plug the usb lead in - then it could be a driver problem.

To check if the usb drivers are compatible - check in the device manager on your PC/Laptop to see if there is an exclamation mark against the device - if so, then you have a driver issue.
If you do have an exclamation mark present, then right click the icon and choose update driver - install the correct usb driver and hopefully your laptop will then be able to talk to your tablet OK.

As you say you can now boot into clockwork mod, can't you simply restore a backup and get the tablet back into an earlier stage of when it was working OK? ;)

Hello kneerm.

I have no knowledge about these tablets and firmware. Best I can do is give you someone detail on my scenario.

The cwm I installed was from the link below...
https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=047eeec6 ... BF08%21562
The file extreme_cwm_recovery

The USB drivers I used were from the following link...
http://www.geminidevices.com/downloads/usb-drivers.zip

(Links taken from other threads in these forums)

The way I knew my PC could see my tablet was on the 'safely remove USB devices' icon on my windows task bar. When I clicked the icon it had android listed with two removable discs, but both were greyed out so couldn't access them.

The first time I installed cwm when I was still on stock I ran the cwm batch file, chose option one which installed it then option two to reboot it, which rebooted straight into cwm without me pressing any key combinations. This is what made me try it again after my devices was stuck.

Sorry I couldn't give anymore info but I really don't have any experience with this kind of thing.

I hope you manage to get sorted with yours.

Barry.

I dont seem to have any usb driver problems - PC sees two removable discs, but both were greyed out so couldn't access them.
Android Commander can see file structure on /

The cause of the problem was I tried to unistall the 4.0.3 boot file using Titanium Pro as it was show lined out ( will know better next time) but the only way to do that is to restore to activate the unistall button. The restore would not complete and so I thought it would terminate by a reboot I think that the reason I cannot boot into the CM9 ROM or Recovery is because both require a non-currupted boot file.

I contacted Storage Options Tech Support and they sent me a Livesuit program and stock ROM image to reflash but again no joy as I cannot get the program to initiate the process by holding down the V- button, conneting the usb and repeatedly pressing the power button as instructed. I dont know if Livesuit simply uses V- and Pwer buttons or is also looking for something on tablet which is yet to be initiated.

Any further thoughts?

Did you check in Device manager like I suggested above - and what did it show?
