Bizarre 51624 - only runs miscroll c7, but no wifi :(

Driving myself nuts :)

Scroll 7" Resistive 51624 v2 1.02s

Updated to clockworkmod (which took some doing. Had to use the capacitive screen cersion with GB rom)

Tried every C7 rom for scroll.

Only one that boots is the miscroll one.

Reset to factory/clear cache/dalvik before installing each rom

WIFI doesn't work. Switches on, 10 secs, switches off.

Tried manually swapping system/wifi contents from other builds into the miscroll zip...no joy.

Tried extracting the wifi folder files from my original out the box backup...no joy...comes up "error" trying to activate wifi.

Would really like a >2,1 build on the thing.

Help ? :)

Update: Will only boot from GB C7 roms.

The one for capacitive screen boots, but obviously...no screen input.

What would make a 51624 resistive screen v2 scroll v1.02s need a GB C7 rom ?

I had a hell of a bother getting CWM onto my 1.02s as well. Messed about for a whole week with different images trying to restore the ruddy thing. Ended up with "SCROLL7-8K-recovery-signed.zip" from androtabs.info after trying loads of permutations.
My scroll is now running cyanogen 7 quite happily - including wifi.

There's a link to my work webspace over there on the panel to the right --------->

All the files I used are hosted/linked to there.

Thanks.

The weird thing is that I can't get any ROM (including recovery) that isn't GB (gingerbread) based to work. Bizarre.

Having trouble getting the PC ADB commands to work now. USB ID gone awry, and drivers not matching the device. Remember having trouble with it before, but can't remember what I did to fix it....manually updated the ID in the driver install iirc.

I'll battle on :)

Any more hints very welcome :0

The driver for mine switched every so often from Android Composite Device to just Android Device.
When that happened I had to manually update the driver and select the composite device one. ADB wouldn't work for me unless the driver was correct and the tablet in recovery. I used fastboot to install CWM. I had to execute the command then switch the Scroll on while holding the vol- button rather than vol+... and don't even ask how long it took to work that one out..

Drivers all sorted. Had to manually change the USB_ID in the install file, as mine was showing up as 0000 for some reason...pretty long USB chain in this house :)

Clockwork on, back to my original 2.1 rom.

Would still like to understand why a 51624 would need a GB rom to boot... :?

That one doesn't work for me.

The scroll simply switches itself off after showing the white scroll screen for about 5s.

I have the original backup if anyone feels like having a gander :) (Might shed some light on what's "different" about my scroll ?)

can you pop it up somewhere? I'll bang it on mine & see what happens. I'm by no means an Android expert, but fresh set of eyes & all that. I've uploaded my Cyanogen back-up. I'll PM you the link if you like. You can give that a bash if you like and see what happens.

Sure. Any preference as to where ?

Cool.

That would be cool.

I have "MISCROLLGB-8K-cyanogen-signed.zip" running on it at the mo, but no wifi.

Does the CWM version define the kernel version ?
