Random freezes

first post on this forum, even though I have been lurking for a while.
My Scroll 7'' with resistive screen started randomly freezing and there is nothing that gets it going again. Only a hard reset. This happens both with the stock firmware and with CM7 so I am thinking this is a hardware problem, but what? Anything that can be fixed with some spares and some patience? Or is it time for the bin?
