Please bear with me! Touchscreen stopped working, just wobbled a lot and moved icons from under my finger. I was reading books on Kindle app when it started to go wrong, corners would not work and I had a magnifying glass thingy that woud not go away and wanted to highlight everything. Tried recalibrating but it just kept telling me to do it again. Tried connecting it via USB to laptop but menus won't touch. Occasionally a menu other than the one I was touching would light up and open! Went to Privacy and did factory reset now am stuck with android man and exclamation mark in triangle. Menu brings up :

Android system recovery <2e>

Android system recovery utility

reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

As the touchscreen is not functional I can't touch any of these selections. Please treat me like a village idiot and tell me what to do in words of one syllable, that is, if anything can be done to rescue this.
Thanks in hope.

i have not tried but apparantly you can plug a mouse or keyboard into the scroll and it will work
but other than this you should be able to use the volume button to move through the list the home button to select and the back button to go back
let us know how you get on

@djeban

hold down the up volume key and on key until the screen goes bright.
then when you get the android system recovery menu.
Pressthe home key to scroll through options.
volume down key to apply options.
youll need the wipe data and factory reset option toggle it to on if i remember right.

Thanks for the above. Attached keyboard and mouse but nothing happened except I had a menu on screen

"Complete action using
com.android.provision.DefaultActivity
Setup Wizard
use by default for this action"

Used power button and up volume to turn off again and when I turned on I got Android man and pressed menu and got the Android system recovery <2e> screen, following Gazzy21uk's instructions. Did a wipe data/factory reset and got Calibration screen which worked and said "reboot" so turned scroll off and now have the "Complete action using" screen again - touch still not working, buttons not working. only difference is no item is highlighted. Volume button only changing volume! Keyboard and mouse having no effect.

Tempted to throw scroll out of window! More help needed please.
