Prevent apps starting on boot

Dont know about you, but it really is starting to get ridiculous the sheer amount of apps that are starting themselves up each boot, also when I open other apps, like browser, market, then check task killer, loads of other apps have decided it was time to start up too.

Is there something similar to MSCONFIG on the android I can disable startup programs?

And How / Why are these irritating apps starting up when I open something else ?

Its teh way android works :) Stuff opens all the time you dont need to worry about closing most as they will be suspended and android will automatically free the memory is required.
for example my streak starts probably 15 things on boot up.

Ok, well if they are suspended its not such a problem, but the tablet feels pretty slow until I end them all

I like a clean slate, and things to open when I want them to, Im the same on my PC, nothing starts up with windows except AV

You could use a task manager to setup the things you don't want to load at boot to be prevented from doing so.
I've set mine up to kill those pesky apps that load on boot. Also makes bootup time shorter.

I use super manager and android task manager (by James lim) as both have features I find useful.

I have also found that my scroll will load all sorts of stuff on boot and until I terminate the tasks the device runs sluggish.

I have been using "Advanced Task Killer" as Veng. I have found it to be quite a good program.

After reading this thread I gave "android task manager" a try and it looks like a more refined and finished product and it has a very nice "system info" report.

However one nice feature of "Advanced Task Killer" that does not seem to be in "android task manager" is once you have selected the apps to kill (and there is a tick next to it) it remebers these. So next time you reboot your phone (or start a process manyally) the tasks you have previously seleted to kill are already selected.

I have also noticed that "android task manager" auto-starts even if you select the setting "start automatically when you restart your smart phone"

I am also going to give super manager a go :-)
