Manual rooting

I have had the scroll since Saturday and I am doing what most men do in my experience, hat is, talk about it as if I know what I am talking about. If I talk gibberish in parts please bear with me.

I have scoured the net including this site for a one click approach to rooting my 52577/2.3 scroll. People on his site are amazingly helpful but I am unable to find anywhere a one click solution which has worked that gives me confidence that I won't brick the thing.

I am looking for a manual approach to rooting the 52577 which I am hoping will not be as risky although it will probably be much more hassle.

Can anyone point me in the direction of instructions or information that might enable me to be able to do such a thing. I think once I am able to take "images" from the thing that am able to reload I will be happier to try out ll sorts of things but at £165 I dont really want to ruin it after only one week.

Does anyone have any information or links to information, websites that I cant find. Anything appreciated.

Regards and thanks

Brian

look for an app called 4zroot open app and you can choose temp or permanant root try temp fiirst so it will just root f till you close phone if it works ok do again choose permenant
the app does the work you just watch and panic til its over

mitre

thanks for the reply.

another new scroll user has tried z4root but it didnt work so I was guessing that I would find the same.

i guess too that the permanent root does more damage than the temporary. if the temporary works the permanent could still go pear shaped.

rooting does absolutrly nothing
its what you do as a user after you root
rooting makes you an administrator for your device you can look at every file on your android and change the code
this is what can break your device if you dont chge these system files you cant break it
a bit like the command window in windows pcs
P.S. ther is another rooting app that i know works on 2.3 cant remember at mo but will post here later with a link

Hi Scott

I have tonight come across an app called "universalandroot" which claims to be good for 2.3

If I get time I may give it a bash and report back.

Still no luck rooting my 52577 capacitive scroll.

Anyone else made any progress where I have failed?

Thanks
