Viewing files from a camera SD card

Postby garogers » June 21st, 2012, 3:45 pm

Hi all,
I'm new to tablet computing so a really basic question......how do I view the pictures from my camera SD card on my Scroll Excel tablet (Android 2.3 Gingerbread)?

The only way I know for certain would be to first transfer the photo files to your desktop PC then connect your Excel to your PC once the files are are copied to it. Your Excel (you say you are on 2.3.4 so the instructions are for that) should show a notification in the top left-hand corner of the Excel's screen, if you drag this down you will see a notification saying USB connected. Touching this should open a window with the option to "Turn on USB storage" select yes and the green android figure should turn an orangy red. When this has completed you should see your tablet on your PC as an external storage device. Open the window for your tablet on your PC and open another window where your photo files are. You can now drag and drop from your PC to the external (or internal if you have enough room) sd card.

If you have the correct lead to connect your camera directly to your Excel you could try that but I would be very surprised if the tablet were able to communicate directly with the camera without you having to jump through several rather complicated hoops first.

Although there is an HDMI facility on the Excel, I believe this is only for outputting to a flatscreen TV or the like so even if your camera has an HDMI socket, I don't think using it for viewing on the tablet would work.

Of course if your camera uses a micro USB card like your tablet, then you can simply take it out from the camera and insert into your tablet and read directly from it using the tablet file browser or the Gallery app.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Hi Trashcooky - that worked great - thanks for the help. I'll see if my camera will work with a micro SD card/ adaptor, that seems to be a better solution. Once again thanks for all the help :D
