Hi Folks

I just got my B grade 7" Scroll from Maplin with 2 sets of cables and headphones but no manual. Firmware is 1.02, shame as I was hoping for market access. It seems to have trouble signing into my google account but maybe that would be no use anyway.

I've lurked around here for a few days but now it's time to have a proper look at what updates and tweaks I can do.

Hi insx, welcome to the madhouse!

If your unit has 1.02 its fine, but to get the market working you will need to look on here for the many posts referring to "market fix" ( use the search box top right and you'll find lots of info on it)

I have google Market on the device.
I noticed when I set it all up from new, and started the "app installer"
and it found a program called "HomePKG:org.marketlauncher"
I clicked on it to install it and in does put on a fully working google market and i have paid for apps using it on the scroll. Using the same account details i have on my motorola Defy.

I must say if you do have it in the nand flash memory and install it. after install, it pops up with what you want to use to open home screen etc, if you do not select the program to be default and then pick the program you just installed, the google market will not show up at all.

I had to factory reset to get it back as i could not change the defaults for the home screen program that normally runs the scroll.
Under a normally file browser its just called MarketLauncher.apk and again on the nand memory part and has a picture of a green android inside a white house as the icon for it.

Thanks. I was quite productive on my first day of ownership. I got the market app by installing launcher pro and I got it working properly by copying the ID of my X10 mini pro.

Mine must have worked by magic then LOL, As All i had to do was install said apk then just enter my google account details.

I find I like the size of the scroll too, much better size than the faulty iPad I had to return...bezel could be smaller.
