Don't modify anything until you are sure you have read all about what you will be doing. Other than that HI :)

Hi again,

Query.......do I have to modify ? or do I need to modify ?, I have 0.94 version I think, is that good or bad ? I seem to be able to download every app I want ( 35 to date ) What does modification do except void a warranty ???
HELP !!

v.94 is good (not as good as v1.00 in my opinion, but very good anyhow) and you should 'root' your scroll and rename the three telephone APKs because they are eating up your battery life. Both things are easy and neither will void your warranty.

Diego, does like FW 1.00 and it works for him, i have 0.94 and it also works good for me - it's each to there own, like Diego says. (but we have modified ours)

Side note: 0.94 works well 'out of the box' (like 1.00) - so if you are happy the way it is at the moment, leave it as it is.

Also warranty = you can 'possible' kiss it goodbye, if you modify - not always the case, but its the worst case, apart from 'bricking' the device.

Don't let me put you off, do what ever you feel most comfortable with, and take your time. :D

Thanks for the help, I would probably like to kill off the phone apps only ,to make the battery last without too much cogs and gears off the wheels so to speak. Can you point me to just doing that as this site seems awash with this mod and that mod and I am a little confused, to put it lightly. If it was a rifle I know what I am doing !!

Yes, sure. Here are the instructions:

First, 'root' your device. That means turn on super user mode so you can change system files:

Directions here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=125

Now rename the APKs:

The APK's are Phone.apk, Mms.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk and are in \system\app\.

To disable them change .apk to .old ie phone.apk becomes phone.old, etc. They MUST be disabled in the following order: phone.apk (then shut down the Scroll and start it again (MUST DO THIS!), then mms.apk and then telephonyprovider.apk, then reboot again.

Remember, strict order: PMT! and you MUST restart after the first one!
