Hi everyone
Found this forum yesterday and had to join.
I'm a retired computer person (40+ years in IT) amusing myself with linux, OpenStreetMap etc. and decided to get an Andoid after my daughter bought a Samsung Galaxy.

Couldn't (wouldn't) afford one of those so went for a Scroll.
Got it at Christmas from CCL with wallet/keyboard which is very convenient. (167 pounds inc VAT)
Haven't played much with it.
I wanted to get under the skin and now I can.

Model : S1008
Firmware : 0.94
Linux : 2.6.29
Build : 2.1
Market : OK

My first question

Is it better to upgrade to latest firmware before 'rooting' ?

EDIT: I didn't see your question. Do NOT upgrade your firmware. v.94 and v1.00 are good firmwares and v1.02 will screw up your Scroll.
