Hi to everyone

Firstly thanks for this site!!!! I have spent a while looking through the forums and posts and it's a real smorgasbord of useful and in my case life saving advice.

So just got my scroll and thanks to this site have answered a lot of questions. I didnt think I would have so many after just turning the thing on. BUT.............. the very frustrating thing (and I know (hope!) the answer will be a simple one) is trying to connect to my BT Homehub, laptop - no probs, I-Pod -no problems, but my scroll, well thats a different matter. It finds it ok, but wont accept the password, keeps saying it is not correct. Hmmmmm, frustrating. Has anyone else had the same problem?

I take it you have the router set to DHCP then? And you've selected the right security protocol?

It is DHCP enabled and it's the right security protocol

Is ther a reason you DHCP? How many systems on your LAN?

WEP or WPA / WPA2 ?

Not sure if Android has issues with WEP

Personally, I set the IPs of the systems on my LAN. They connect faster, I always know what they are and my Linux firewall routes well. I also use WPA-PSK. When you are on the Wireless Setup screen and you press the menu/button you get static IP setup options.

when it comes to routers I am pretty clueless, the hub is a shared router (not mine), so the set up was not down to me, at the present the owner uses his laptop and i-pod through it and I use my pc (all wireless), so set up wise I am not sure. I know the laptop and I-pod have no issues connecting.

Just a thought - have you set the security on your router up to only accept known MAC addresses?

Your Scroll being new would fall foul of his sensible security measure.

Also, some people set their DHCP routers up to only use as many IPs as they have devices. You're going to need the owner to be in the settings while you try to connect so you can work the kinks out. Some devices can't choose an IP and have to use DHCP, for all others I always prefer to assign IPs myself. Some believe it a bit archaic of me, but I believe in a simple LAN situation it's just logical.
