Hi,

I've just got a new Scroll (2 hours ago), had a quick look at it and it looks good. Hope I'll be able to get plenty of use out of it while I'm on the move.

Out of the box it's got firmware version 1.01, Baseband version 1.01, Linux kernel 2.6.29. It's found the wireless network just fine so it's a good start.

Anyway, this is my first experience of Android. So I've got a few questions but I'll look for the relevant topics to post them.

I used to be a hands on techie (I still dabble in tech support from time to time), have been online since *ahem* and have some Ubuntu Linux desktop experience.

Looking forward to getting to grips with my Scroll :)

Welcome to the Scroll crew :¬)

There is a Samba file sharing app which will let you map the /sdcard/ through the WiFi. It's in the Software & Operating System forum

The one from the XDA link - rebooted the scroll just now and got 3 or 4 force close errors on it, so uninstalled it now

Well you've certainly confused me my friend. Do you still have the file on your PC? The number on it will tell me which you have, as it's the date of release. I've seen no sign that he's changed it from just sharing /sdcard/, so I'm at a loss how it could share anything other than the SD card.

SambaFilesharing-devbld-110205.apk

It called it /sdcard - but when it appeared in my network list it said 1.35GB - I was confused too thinking where is my 8GB gone - then realised it had mounted /nand

looks like that was released this morning/last night. He called it a 'dev update' and didn't update the changelog.

I'm using SambaFilesharing3APK-b110109. I've hosted it here for anyone needing it: http://naphoria.com/SambaFilesharing3APK-b110109.zip

Cheers Diego, might give it a shot later

Wonder if you can install both and mount internal and sdcard ....
