New Scroll

Postby hatchman » January 28th, 2011, 8:29 am

Hi All
Thought I would say a quick hello as i picked mine up from Tescos on Monday (missed the 20% offer though)
Noticed its now out of stock however Maplin currently have it for £119 ( they just sent me a email Code: A47KJ )
hope all these price reductions are not a mass stock clearing as they are no longer going to stock it.

Currently I have resisted the temptation to root it so I can do a backup however was wondering if its worth upgrading to 1.02 first. I do have one big question although my Scroll currently has ver1.01 market is installed and working (not tried a paid for pp yet) has anyone tried it yet with a working Market?

Well I am off to look for a case to keep my new toy shiny and new.

Thanks all for the great posts and how to's

I had 1.01 and the market packed up after a few days. I rooted and clockworked mine before upgrading to 1.02 which can make the 1.02 upgrade a pain in the arse....

So, what I suggest is do the 1.02 upgrade then root and clockwork it if you want to. That way if it all goes wrong you can return it for replacement as it hasnt been altered in any way. Having said that, I did return my original one to maplins with a hardware fault after I had rooted and clockworked it, they were too dumb to notice, perhaps tescos will be the same..

Hiya, and welcome.

v1.01 will be able to use the Market for anything from 4 hours to 24 hours, but then will stop.

I would recommend every Scroll user does the following when they feel the time is right:

1) Install clockwork backup
2) Backup their Scroll
3) Install version 2.2

I would not recommend upgrading to 1.02 as it is pointless and has the potential to brick your device, although this is not certain.

just gowith 1.02 if you are unsure. its th officailly supported one so if anything goes wrong you can get a refund.
the 2.2 thats out is buggy as hell. I don't suggest using it if you want real day to day use of the scroll.
