@ Charlie, thanks for your advice about getting Winamp on my Elite, I've tried it with the .apk and it fails to install. So there must be something in build.prop it doesn't like? Whatever, there's plenty more mp3 players to choose from.
Anyway, thanks again and I thought I'd reply here rather than clutter up someones thread with my problem.
