Hi I have just bought a 7" Scroll with resistive screen. It has been previously owned but seems to be in good order. Im pleased to find that after updating he firmware I can access the android Market. The previous owner must have used the Scroll as a reader as there are some book files on the memory which are locked and require a code to unlock Im hoping I can learn from this site how to safely remove all the unwanted files and also which files need to be disabled to improve the battery life. Any advice will be most welcome.

Welcome to the forum :D

If you use the forum search function for "PMT" you should come up with lots of answers about disabling the phone functions. An easier way is to put the device in "airplane mode" with an app that does so (search for airplane moe on the market)

My best guess about the locked files is they are kindle ones. You cn use a file manager such as "andexplorer" to delete unwanted files, however, please be careful what you delete as you could experience issues or even kill your scroll.

Did it come with a memory card and if so have you formatted it?

Thank you for your kind welcome to the forum.

I will try the airplane mode option.

I have ordered a 16 gig sd card from ebay and am awaiting its arrival.

The Android Market worked for a while but now the downloads are unsuccessful so I assume the market is broken. I will try to reinstall the firmware update and see what happens.

Thank you again

Saul

The firmware update won't make the market work for long, if at all. The scroll was released with an unlicensed market.

If you bought a 16gb card from fleabay please make sure it actually is that size, there are a lot of fakes about!

Just a note to thank the group fof some great tips. The market is still Simon broken but anoyingly uses a load of memory however on recomendation from fonfixer I have down loaded Appslib (an alternative market) from there I downloaded a file manager, a task killer, dropbox, Airplane and Huffington post. The file manager shows a load of empty folders the nand folder seems to contain all the user files but the file layout remains a mystery to me. I'm. now getting used to the resistive screen am typing this post with the blunt end of a biro. Thanking you all again
