Hi guys.

Just bought a scroll and found the forum while looking at benefits of rooting / how to root. I'm after being able to run facebook apps, so if there are any pointers, they'd be much appreciated.

Hope to pick up the lingo, too, as I hear people referring to ROMs and can only think of game emulators : /

Is there a good place to start on here with regards to, like, an idiots guide? As I literally have no idea what to do.

I rooted mine following these instructions, only so that I could disable the PMT (Phone, MMS and Telephony) applications which needlessly sap the power.

I found I was able to install the Facebook app without rooting - I went to Facebook in the browser, and there was a link at the bottom of the page along the lines of 'Download Facebook app for your device'. Clicking that loaded the Market app (for which you'll need a Google account), signed in and off you go.
