Just bought an 8" Scroll, few things I'm trying to iron out

Hey guys. I'm murta, 25 from Derby.

Very impressed with the Scroll so far (especially for the price), but there are some key features that'd vastly improve it for me.

Android Marketplace
From what I gather from here - viewtopic.php?f=27&t=127
I'm unable to flash Clockworkmod Recovery as the 8" is preinstalled with 1.02. Is there a workaround or anything else I can flash so that I can eventually perform the Market fix? Or is it just a matter of waiting until the Clockworkmod Recovery is modified so it'll work on preinstalled 1.02/1.02s?

Adhoc Wifi tethering
Am trying to tether my iPhone 3G's connection to the Scroll via wifi. Not having any luck so far, as Android won't pick up Adhoc connections by default. Have tried various guides to modify the wpa_supplicant so that it recognises Wifi connections but haven't gottent anywhere. I believe this is because the wpa_supplicant on this version of the scroll is newer than the ones that the guides describe how to modify.

I was hoping to get somewhere with this one by following either of these guides:
http://szym.net/2010/12/adhoc-wifi-in-android/
http://www.olsr.org/?q=olsr_on_android

I think the former may work if I was able to compile the patch for the Scroll, but I'm not tech savvy enough to do this unfortunately.

Video Player
It lists videos as thumbnails with no title, which can be pretty annoying as the majority of videos start out black so you have to pull up the details of it just to get the title. Am hoping there's a way to modify config files for this.

I know that ES File Explorer is an alternative for this (as well as things like mplayer etc.), but it'd be nice if the stock player wasn't missing a basic feature like this.

in regards to the video player, replace it with mVideo player if you can find a .apk file for it on the internet.

Thanks, I'll give it a try! Are any players capable of streaming from SMB shares? Haven't really had time to look into many so far.

Not sure if it's a standard thing, but a tip I'd recommend is after rooting your Scroll to remove the Gtalk service with:
adb shell rm /system/app/gtalkservice.apk

As I found that the service kept starting in the background for seemingly no reason and would slow the tablet down to a crawl.

Think I've answered my own questions regarding using SMB shares for video players! - http://blogs.unbolt.net/index.php/brinl ... oid-device

Annoyingly have just realised I have the clock/date issue that some users seem to have (faulty CMOS battery), but really can't be bothered to send it back
