Scroll Tablet PC | Scroll Excel Tablet Forum

Hi all,

An introduction from myself to the rest of the Android clans. After being burned getting a 10"Epad from ebay (the worst device on the planet!), I decided to take the risk on a 7" scroll v2 (1.02s) - Some quirks, but not major.

Screen is upside down (orientation problem on full screen Portrait which is mentioned so many times here) - As being a linux geek, I would like to get more toys working on the device such as USB->Serial, Bluetooth, 3G.

I have rooted the device and replaced the props file; didnt notice anything revolutionary - but then I didn't look too hard. (I was hoping it would sort out the screen orientation as the Absolute Radio app is upside-down)

Some comments I have are as follows.... are there definitive guides for different firmwares as there is tons of information - and conflicting information with regards to flashing, recovery and Telechips URL links that dont work and scattered guides to get androidID's from SDK's)

Again, I hope to be a regular here and want to get this device in to a kick-ass state!

Your best bet to find what you need is the forum search function. There is no definitive guide to the firmware differences as SO (the uk distributors) are not very forthcoming with info. In fact, a lot of the members on here probably know considerably more about the scroll than SO do.

Give us a clue in the relevant help topic what you wish to do and we will do our best to help.

Thanks a million This forum currently is the definitive guide to the scroll - Kudo's to all involved. I am humbled.

The things I am trying to figure out is step 1: ClockworkMod: The information I have gleaned is that 1.02s its broken. I am trying to see what other methods are available to pimp-my-firmware. (Removing Phone icons and other irrelevant things) I am a bit scared of bricking my toy following a guide for other/wrong firmware.

The next thing is Screen Orientation - as there is a experimental link to a TEST directory at a telechips website which no longer works. The link *apparently* contains files which can be used to fix stuff viewtopic.php?f=9&t=34&p=4790&hilit=naobsd+orientation#p4790

currently I have rootetd the device and running LauncherPro to make MarketPlace work.

I am willing to write HOWTO's and refine them under guidance for fixing Screen Orientation, USB devices and other test tasks (if anyone wants to offload the FAQ writing, I am happy to assist)
