@nic6570

It was worth a shot, sometimes little things can be overlooked and found to be the solution in the end, but not in this case, sorry i could not help.

I completely agree :-)
Thanks Charlie for highlighting it, suggesting something like that is definately necessary particularly with me! :-)

Just saying hi, name's Pete. I'm a bit of a gadget fanatic, got various toys, linux boxes, a mac and a w7 media center android fone etc. My wife complains bitterly cos I don't just buy things and use them , I fiddle with them and generally try to get stuff to do things they weren't supposed to do!

I bought a scroll a couple of weeks ago and have been tinkering with it since. Its great to see a forum for this device, looking forward to seeing more and more as user base grows. I'm particularly interested in upgrading to 2.2 (as I'm sure most are) :D So I can't wait to see what Merlot comes up with.

Thanks and great work!

Thats what I like to see, a like minded person. If you have a new toy it would be rude not to tweak it.

got a new Scroll today and its pretty cool

Postby Walshy » January 3rd, 2011, 6:16 pm

Hello All,

bought one of these from Maplins today.

Pretty impressed with it as a piece of kit, loaded apps market first time and have added Kindle, Spotify etc.

As with everyone else I've yet to play aroud and will get the case I discovered on here.

gripes:

1. No 2.2 access is a pain for iplayer etc.
2. I really wanted skype as I use it a lot for grandparents and a mobile device would be great for a two year old who never sits still - Skype downloaded but said browser not supported - I assume a 2.1 issue?
3. Spotiy is on the kit but doesn't work I assume because I don't have an SD card?
4. I have an external harddrive - which i've attached with a usb adaptor - but it doesn't do anything - any advice apreciated in this - as I have movies and music on it?

Look forwards to seeing some advice and a potential upgrade - for the money though seems like a god find.

i have to agree with you about the iplayer point as it is pretty anoying without flash. regarding you hard drive, it needs to be formatted with FAT not NTFS

I think that skype is very much a browser issue! It's annoying but android 2.2 would solve this

I'm wondering whether rooting with a custom firmware might solve this? Secondly, I hope a clear step by step guide can be produced by a kind member so we can hopefully use flash on our tablets)

That would be me :)

I have reported this to Google as a new incident (#745580813) and also added my 2p to this thread: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/A ... cfb8&hl=en

I have tried everything, including various vendor.apk's, but factory reset is the only thing that works.

For now, I use my Desire HD to install an app, then use Root Explorer to find the APK in /data/app and copy it across to the Scroll and install on there.
