Epic118 found the true Market fix!

OK, this will fix any problems that anyone has with the Android Market always giving server errors.

First, do a factory reset. This isn't compulsory, but I did just to be safe.
Now do Detection's Market Fix. Just search it up.
Once you've done that, do the following commands in ADB SHELL(remember: ROOT IS REQUIRED!)

Code: Select all
cd /system/app
ls

A list of all apps will appear. Find MarketUpdater.apk.

Found it? Now type

Code: Select all
exit

Type
Code: Select all
adb pull /system/app/MarketUpdater.apk
adb shell rm /system/app/MarketUpdater.apk

Then type
Code: Select all
adb reboot

Once your tablet has rebooted, enter Settings, tap Applications / Manage applications and find Market. (If you can't find it, press MENU, choose Filter and choose All)

Choose Uninstall Updates. Nearly done...

Try and find com.android.vending.updater and uninstall it. (It's already gone! This just removes records) and then you have successfully fixed your Market forever!

Just uninstall updates if your Market ever crashes again. I know it's a pain, but it's better than nothing, isn't it? :)

Okay guys...
Some people are new to Command Prompt and/or ADB, and will have problems doing this manually. :(
Fortunately, I quickly whipped up a program that will automatically fix Market! :)

This has guides on the Detection Market Fix, as well as Server Error fixes, and provides an option to unfix the Market if you are strange :?:

There is one complication, however, and that's getting ADB to work xD
To get ADB to work, check this out: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1568&p=11960&hilit=adb#p11960 (but only do up to step 6 i.e. don't do step 7 or onwards. That was made for a capacitive but it will work on all Scrolls) Once you've typed ADB SHELL and got the # to appear, type EXIT then ENTER to get out of ADB

Here's how to use the application.
1. Click here to download 'unscrewMarket': http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1763043/unscrewMarket.bat
2. Also download ADB http://www.4shared.com%2Ffile%2FBzsex710%2Fadb.html&ei=biOHTsVl47LRBeaKvOoP&usg=AFQjCNHa4r1v8F1B18TXnTIDiGooKQLTJg&sig2=2ZPhs6zyGbG7idFjTapXQw

3. Once you have downloaded ADB.exe, make a folder called 'unscrewMark' and copy unscrewMarket.bat into there.
4. Open the unscrewMarket file and a black window will appear. Follow the onscreen instructions. When you are prompted to copy ADB.exe into the unscrewMark folder, do that.

5. Market will now work! Yay. Finally.

Post any help questions here and I will try to help! I say try because even I am a n00b at these things.

Hi,
Trying to fix a the Market Place problem for a mate who has brought 2 8" Special Ed Scrolls for his kids at Christmas.

The instructions above look really helpful and comprehensive and should do the trick. However I can not get the link link under step 2 to download the ADB.exe file to work just keep getting a message from Firefox saying that server can't be found.
Could someone confirm if the link is broken or is it just me being useless!!! if it is broken can I get it from somewhere else?

Please help me help my mate out,

Ta,

LOL, managed to sort it. Firefox was not reading the address properly. All downloaded now so I'll try and get the Scroll's fixed in the next few days.

However more than likely I'll be posting another stupid question at that time as well

Cheers all,

Spike,

How did you get on with the Market Fix. Still waiting for my mate to turn up with his 8" scrolls, so any advice/info would be great thanks.

Well, my market is properly screwed now. I did the above but I didn't have market in my list of apps (yes, filter = all). I used Astro's app manager which did list Market so I did the same thing there. Now Market has gone completely.

Update: I found a download for Market on XDA developers and got the market back but I still have "A network error occurred" and I still don't have market in my applications list even though I'm able to launch it from my shortcut.
